Nocturnus 2007 weekend

By: Gerben Kuiper

After visiting the Dour Festival in july, together with Gijs van Eysden, we’ve totally had it with Belgium. Total chaos, bad smells and literally everything illogical. It was clear: BELGIUM SUCKS!
One month later I still suffered traumatic experiences from my visit to Belgium. Also one question came up: Can it really be that bad?

Nocturnus is an overnight skate-event that takes place in Hasselt Belgium. The idea is a skating session that takes place the whole night. The scene was crowded with waterpolo players, since there was a tournament that took place in the same weekend.

These waterpolo guys were really astonished that we drove all the way (only two hours) just to skate. WTF, waterpolo, come again.

Why the would someone drive fucking four hours to play waterpolo? Probably for the same reasons we skate……

Anyway, since there wasn’t any contest organized, one of the waterpolo guys who’s also snowboarding for Protest, thougt it would be a good idea to have a contest a give away a hoodie. We decided to have a battle down the stairs, because seeing people fall is always entertaining. Crazy shit was thrown down the stairs. 360-everything-grinds, bio 7’s, 9’s and all kinds of circus tricks.

Next up was the first edition of the BCSKBR (BladerCrossShopKaputBeerRace). But because most people were too busy skating the stupid little rail, there were only five contestants. Simon, who doesn’t even drink, won the Grolsch beer. The only reason he won is probably because the other contestants were too wasted and they got even more wasted after Simon handed over his fresh won beers to them.

At this point it comes to my mind that I’m in Belgium for about 7 hours and haven’t been annoyed by (almost) anything. Can it be, that Belgium isn’t that bad. I can hardly believe it but. there’s a whole weekend to come.

After Nocturnus, JJ, Hockey, Adil and I went to chill in Brussels along with Denfist. On Sunday we went to Leuven to the Belgian Open. I pulled a Rudi on the quarterpipes and have no idea who won, but the atmosphere was really chill.

To conclude the story: BELGIUM DOESN’T SUCK!. If Yves Leterme fuckes up, Flanders is welcome to join the Netherlands as far as I’m concerned.

We besloten om een best-trick te doen van de trap af. Zeker omdat het altijd entertaining is om gasten van een trap af te zien vallen

haha..ik ging echt stuk toen ik die las!
